Game replays and desktop recording require hardware H.265 or AV1 encoding.
| Brand | H.265 (HEVC) · SDR recording | AV1 |
|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA | GeForce GTX 950 or higher | GeForce RTX 40 series or higher |
| AMD | Radeon RX 460 or higher | Radeon RX 7600 or higher |
| Intel | UHD 610, 620, 630 or higher | Arc A310 or higher |
GPU support varies by model. See Hardware compatibility below.
The table lists starting models. Higher or newer GPUs must support the listed encoder and have a compatible driver.
Find your GPU in Task Manager → Performance → GPU. Holycord shows available formats in Settings → Capture → Video quality. H.265 is enough for video capture; AV1 is optional.
GeForce GT 1030 and Radeon RX 6400 / 6500 XT lack the required encoder. Another enabled GPU, including integrated graphics, may provide it. Voice, chat, and screenshots don't need a video encoder.
Manufacturer specifications: NVIDIA, Radeon RX 460, AMD encoding, Intel integrated graphics, Intel Arc A310.
HDR video requires an HDR source and 10-bit H.265 or AV1 encoding. 4K and 60 fps require Premium and hardware capable of your chosen settings.
Lossless HDR screenshots require Premium and an HDR source. They save as JXR, or PNG for SDR sources, and don't need a video encoder.
Replay keeps recent gameplay in memory. Warmup and memory limits can shorten the available history; clips may include extra time at the start. Higher quality and longer recordings use more storage.
Videos preserve the source's proportions without upscaling. Add unrecognized games in Settings.
Windows specifications: System requirements, Intel processors, AMD processors.
